Small Appliances:
Smaller appliances, such as toasters or blenders, should be wrapped in brown paper
pads, and placed in 3.1 cubic foot moving boxes for easiest handling. If a brown
paper pad is too large for an item, cut the sheet in half. Keep all appliance
parts together in the same box, wrapping them separately in paper as needed.
Note that is it important to prevent shifting within the box or among the parts of
the appliance. For example, you may prevent shifting of the rotating plate of a
microwave by stuffing paper within the unit prior to packing.
Televisions, Computers and Stereos:
*If you do not have the original factory packing for your expensive electronic
equipment, Gentle Giant does not recommend moving these items yourself. Gentle Giant
recommends custom crating of plasma televisions to its customers. Please speak with
your Move Coordinator for further information.
Prior to packing any electronic item, remove or fully recess the antenna if
applicable. Check with your cable provider regarding whether you need to return
cable boxes, remotes, or other items. For all appliances to be moved, coil and tie
or tape the electrical cords. Remove any CD's and DVD's from the appliance, as
they tend to shift during a move and may cause a jam or damage. Be sure to keep
careful track of remote controls to any electronic devices, as these items are
often misplaced during a move.
